HISTORY OF THE CAR

I have driven this van since 160K miles. It has been regularly maintained during my ownership. The previous owner had it from 130K-160K miles and had regular oil changes done. I’ve driven it mainly for my daily commutes in Kerrville and Mountain Home. One of the few flaws Toyota made in the Sienna design was making the van too heavy for the suspension system. I’ve pretty well had that rebuilt in the last year, so you shouldn’t have to worry about it. I also replaced the timing belt/kit when I bought it, simply because of the mileage and not knowing if it had been done previously. This van has a very good reputation, however you need to be aware that it is a work in progress. As I no longer need a minivan, I can not justify continuing the work for myself.

REPAIRS I’VE HAD DONE

-rear brakes and shocks
-timing kit
-valve covers
-cam seals
-struts
-stabilizer bar links
-lower control arms, lower ball joints, tie rod boot
-dog bone mount
-trans mount
-engine mount
-rack and pinion bushings
-catalytic converter
-02 sensors
-cabin air filter was just replaced

WHAT THE VAN NEEDS

A few weeks ago, I took the car to my mechanic for a look over so the next owner can have a clear understanding of where the van is it. This is what he told me.

-oil pan leak from the lower gasket. He said it’s a pretty cheap job

-the transmission has a leak on the main body. He says to reseal and replace a gasket or throw a Jasper in there and it’ll be good for life. I check the fluid every few days and rarely need to top it off.

-if you look over the paperwork he gave me, you’ll notice that I said the AC wasn’t working consistently (it’s worked a couple times). He checked the compressor and it was just fine. He believes it’s simply a malfunctioning button which makes sense with what I’ve noticed. You can get a new control panel on eBay for about 75 bucks and I found a YouTube tutorial which looks very simple. I can forward those links to you, if you would like them.

-occasionally the check engine light pops on (not consistently) with the codes: P0430, P0441, P0442, P0446. It looks like the repairs for that are not terribly expensive (I appear to have misplaced the quote paperwork, but I still have the diagnostic report for you to read over)

-the radio is quirky and is missing the volume knob cover. Adjust the volume via the steering wheel and it works fine.

-I took the paneling off the driver’s side sliding door a couple weeks ago and now that window does not operate. It worked fine until I reconnected it, so I assume I jarred something.

-there is a crack across the top of the windshield. It is not within my line of vision, so I haven't replaced it.

REASON FOR SELLING:

I purchased the van because driving children is a part of my job description and I was driving several children at the time. For the foreseeable future, I will only be driving one child so I have downsized to a Corolla. I can’t justify doing repairs to a car that is no longer serving my needs.

FINAL NOTES

This has been a great van. It’s an easy drive, it’s roomy and super comfortable, and the visibility is fantastic! I’ve had many a car picnic in there with my kids and lots of playtime and book reading in the van while waiting for appointments (I kept a basket of activities in the back which they loved rooting through and would happily play in the van for 45+ minutes.) The kids have all loved hanging out and riding in it. That’s the main thing I’m going to miss with my tiny Corolla, the easy and comfortable hangout space on appointment days. It’s just not needed with only one child now.

Please see the photos, feel free to ask me any questions, come test drive it and look it over. It’s been a good van for the season of life I was in with my flock of fun kids, as well as taking me on a memorable road trip to the mountains of New Mexico with a good friend. That passenger seat is a comfy road trip napping spot!

If you would like to have a look at the van, I will meet you at the big H-E-B in Kerrville. Cash only (no cash apps). I have a video of the engine running. Text me for that or with any other questions. show contact info
