Find the Missing Prospectors - Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Guide - IGN (2024)

Finding the Missing Prospectors is a Rumor that is unlocked when visiting Koboh for the first time in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. You'll be required to investigate the Sodden Grotto, for some Prospectors that have recently gone missing during an expedition.

This Rumor guide will detail everything you need to know about getting to the Sodden Grotto, unlocking the rewards found inside, and how to defeat the Rancor found inside.

Finding the Missing Prospectors Walkthrough

This will likely be one of the first rumors you encounter in your journey through the galaxy. When you first begin to approach Rambler’s Reach, near the Meditation Point, you’ll encounter a Prospector by a workstation. Talk to her and you’ll initiate the Rumor.

How to Get to the Sodden Grotto

Check your map and it’ll mark an area in the Southern Reach showing you the general area for the Rumor.

Head over there by climbing the vines nearby the workstation and you should see the entrance to the mine close by.

Head inside and you’ll see a large pit in the ground and some pipes above you. Cross over the pipes and you’ll land in a small hallway. Walk to the end and you’ll see some blue glowing rocks, indicating that they can be destroyed with The Force. Destroy it anand you’ll land inside the mine where the missing prospectors are located, in an area called the Sodden Grotto.

Navigating the Sodden Grotto

Head inside and immediately go right and down the ramp, killing the Shiverpede on the way to find a Priorite Shard.

Head back up and this time go left from the entrance and you’ll find some bars you can bend with The Force and head into the dark hallway. Kill the Shiverpede as it ambushes you and then slice the bars in front of you.

Run across the wall and cross the small bridge in front of you and kill the two Bramliks in the room, then collapse the rocks on your left to create a bridge.

Jump over and climb the ridge, killing the Shiverpede and your right as it tries to ambush you. You’ll find yourself at a fork in the road, with one way leading left and one way leading right.

Start by heading left, slicing the bars blocking your path and squeezing your way through the small opening in the wall. Kill the Bramlik and scan the Dead Researcher before heading back.

Cut the bars on the other side and head down the path. To your left, you should see a droid standing across a long opening.

Make sure not to try to use The Force on this guy to try and subdue them or they’ll burrow away!

Ignore this way for now and continue heading straight down the path a wide open area facing the entrance. Scan the Dead Gorgers here for a Databank Entry.

Return to the gap where you saw the droid.

Jump over the gap by double jumping, making sure you use the small platform just before the jump. After clearing the gap, try and kill the Droid if you can. They’ll drop a Priorite Shard for your troubles. If you’re unable to kill the Droid right now and it escapes, that’s okay, you can come back and kill it when it respawns.

Make a sharp left and head down the bend into a dark room, killing the Bramliks that try and attack you.

At the end of this room, open the Chest to loot the Scrapyard Legs for BD-1.

Head back to the room with the Droid and jump across the gap going straight this time. Squeeze into the passage in the wall and continue forward, getting to the large platform in the center room. Activate the shortcut here and continue down the path until you reach a large set of bones. Scan this to get the Massive Ribcage Databank Entry.

Head forward and meditate at the Meditation Point on your right and then head to your left to scan the Prospector Remains.

Then, hop down into the large open area, where you’ll encounter…

Boss: The Rancor

The Rancor is an enemy that many fans of the series may be familiar with. A huge, bipedal beast, it’s slow but very powerful. If you’re not careful it can definitely give you some trouble. The Rancor has a few attacks and some are very deadly, even able to kill Cal in one strike if you’re too reckless.

It’s worth noting the Rancor can’t be blocked and but you're able to parry at least the two claw attacks. You can also use the Force Parry with the dual-wielding stance of your Lightsaber to parry this attack as well if you're struggling with the timing.

Notable attacks to look out for are the unblockable grab attack, where the Rancor will dive a considerable distance towards you and grab you before taking a bite out of you. Be very careful of this attack, as it can very easily kill you instantly. Make sure to avoid it with your dodge.

The other attack to look out for is the unblockable ground slam attack, which sends a shockwave forward toward you. Don’t try and dodge this attack, instead jump out of the way.

The Rancor’s attacks are a bit sudden and wide-reaching, but afterward, the Rancor has a long recovery window. Take this opportunity to get some damage on it! The boss will transition into its second phase when it’s at about 70% HP, swinging its arms wildly around. It will gain a few follow-up attacks, but nothing you’re not too familiar with. Continue to whittle down the Rancor’s HP slowly and then execute it when it reaches 10% HP.

How to Get the Sodden Grotto Rewards

After beating the Rancor, your reward will be the Shatter Perk, which will improve your guard-breaking abilities. The Rumor will also mark itself as complete. You’re free to head back to the Prospector, who reveals their greedy intentions of sending you down to the mines to look for the prospectors. Cal will give them a bit of a scare before you head out.
