REFLECTING ON THE OVERWHELMING response to the launch of the Journal of Nursing Science and Professional Practice (JNSPP), Journal of Nursing Science and Professional Practice (lww.com), I'm left pondering: What are we missing? The flood of engagement from diverse corners of the globe underscores the untapped potential in nursing and healthcare. Could there be a treasure trove of unpublished, game-changing research waiting to be unlocked?“WHAT HAVE WE GONE AND DONE?” a member of the team asked me in the days following the launch. While the team and I anticipated the launch would garner excitement and support and curiosity, I must confess that personally, I was caught a bit off-guard. In general, I know nursing to be a collaborative and supportive profession. But, where did all of these researchers and academics and practitioners and healthcare workers come from? THE REPORTED BARRIERS FACED BY new researchers, and those outside North America and Europe, raise important questions about inclusivity in scientific publishing. Are we truly harnessing diverse perspectives and knowledge sources to advance universal healthcare? Could a journal showcasing the best of nursing from around the world make a tangible difference?ADMITTEDLY, I AM A NOVICE editor. I am neither academician nor researcher. I am not familiar with all of the issues and I certainly do not have all the answers. Yet, the global collaboration witnessed during the Covid crisis reminds me of our collective strength. By embracing diverse voices and experiences, we can surely move closer to achieving universal healthcare. Let's use the JNSPP to continue to engage all talents in this crucial endeavour. What are your thoughts?

Good for Iowa and the industry! Agency’s practise of overcharging Facilities dependent on Medicare and Medicaid and using questionable ethics to poach our employees needs to be gutted…..“The bill joins a small but growing tide of similar bills around the US, including at least 11 proposed state measures, that were under consideration in 2023. Regardless of this bill’s future success, Iowa’s state government has taken long-term care funding seriously in recent years — passing $15 million in new funding in 2023. By some metrics, the state is already the best in the nation for eldercare.”It would be nice if another “I” state, like Idaho, exhibited this type of concern for eldercare and our seniors……#skillednursing #longtermcare
