Best Selling Auto Brands Ranking up to June 2024 is still dominated by Toyota (-0.3%), followed by Volkswagen in second (+2.0%). BYD grows 24.6% into 9th spot.
The Global Auto Brands Ranking
Sourcing local Minister of Transportation or deputy agencies, we collect new light vehicles registrations, country by country, brand by brand, in 159 markets worldwide. Extracting data for our Global Auto Database we are able to report on this ranking as several others.
The Japanese Toyota is still the best selling Brand and has been for the past 10 years, selling 4.41 million vehicles up to June 2024, a 0.3% year-on-year loss.
Volkswagen, in 2nd position, holds 5.7% of the global market, having sold 2.35 million vehicles (+2.0%).
In third place Honda with 1.85 million units sold and a 2.5% year-on-year growth.
In fourth place Ford sold 1.84 million vehicles (-0.1%) was followed by Hyundai with 1.82 million sales (-3.0%), Kia at 1.77 million (+18.6%), Nissan with 1.55 million (+0.4%), Chevrolet with 1.45 million units sold (-3.2%).
In 9th place ranked BYD with 1.42 million sales (+24.6%). BYD is an EV specialist still selling ICE vehicles (representing over the half of company sales). In 2019 BYD ranking was the 49th in the world!
In 10th place, advancing from the 11th BMW reports 1.12 million new registrations (+5.9%).
